Meet Tabee: The Mascot of Tabgha Education Centre
A mascot born from creativity, community, and the spirit of growing stronger as one.
Every school has a story. At Tabgha Education Centre, our story is shaped by faith, learning, community, and a shared journey of growing together.
As part of our journey to strengthen the identity and sense of belonging within the TEC community, we invited our community to take part in a special Mascot Design Competition. The competition was open to TEC teachers and staff, as well as students from SMP & SMA Kristen Tabgha.
The theme of the competition was inspired by the tilapia fish, a fish commonly found in Galilee, a place deeply connected to the story of Jesus and the biblical roots of Tabgha.
We received 25 creative mascot designs from our students, teachers, and staff. Each design reflected a unique interpretation of what the Tabgha Education Centre community means to its members.
From the 25 submissions, three designs were selected as the top finalists. Each finalist received a prize of Rp500,000 in appreciation of their creativity, effort, and contribution to the TEC community.
The final mascot was then selected through a community voting process, allowing the wider TEC community to take part in choosing the character that would represent our school.
After the voting process, the winning design was created by Gifty Rajagukguk.
Congratulations, Gifty!
But the journey did not end with the voting.
The winning design was further refined and developed to create a mascot that could truly represent the spirit, values, and identity of Tabgha Education Centre.
And finally, our mascot received its name:
TABEE

Tabee is more than just a mascot. Tabee represents the spirit of the Tabgha Education Centre community—a community where students, teachers, staff, and parents walk together, learn together, and grow together.
Why a Tilapia Fish?
The choice of a tilapia fish is deeply connected to the story and identity of Tabgha.
Tabgha is traditionally associated with the biblical account of the Multiplication of the Loaves and Fish, a story that reminds us of God's provision, generosity, and the power of sharing what we have with others.
The fish also connects us to the Sea of Galilee, where fish played an important role in the lives and stories of the people during the time of Jesus.
For us at Tabgha Education Centre, the tilapia represents more than a fish. It carries a deeper message.
It represents growth—the journey of every learner as they discover their potential.
It represents adaptability—the ability to learn, grow, and navigate the changing world.
It represents community—because just as fish move and thrive within their environment, we believe that children grow best when they are surrounded by a caring and supportive community.
And most importantly, it reminds us of our calling to share our gifts and blessings with others.
The Meaning Behind Tabee
Tabee is designed to be a friendly and joyful representation of the TEC community.
With its fish identity, Tabee reminds us of our connection to Tabgha, our Christian heritage, and the story of Jesus.
With its cheerful character, Tabee represents the joy of learning and the excitement of growing together.
With its presence across our school community, Tabee becomes a symbol of belonging—a reminder that every student, teacher, staff member, and parent is part of the larger Tabgha family.
Tabee embodies the spirit of:
Faith. Growth. Learning. Community. Purpose.
These are the values that we hope will continue to shape every learner at Tabgha Education Centre.

Our school theme, "Growing Stronger As One," reminds us that education is never a journey that we take alone.
We grow stronger when we support one another.
We grow stronger when we celebrate one another's gifts.
We grow stronger when we learn from one another.
And we grow stronger when we share a common purpose.
We hope that Tabee will become more than just the face of our school. We hope Tabee will become a symbol that brings joy, unity, and a sense of belonging to the entire TEC community.
May Tabee accompany our students in their learning journey, celebrate their achievements, encourage them through challenges, and remind them that they are never alone.
May Tabee also remind every teacher and staff member of the important role we have in nurturing the next generation.
